Palazzo Toro stands in the historic center of the town overlooking Corso Garibaldi and took on its current architectural shape at the end of the 1870s by order of Enrico Toro who had it started in the mid-1800s and which was completed in 1870 for the residence of the family and to also host the Centerba factory, the famous Abruzzo liqueur.
The building has an excellent late-Renaissance architectural layout and is refined by elegant classical forms.
The property was declared by the Superintendence of Fine Arts “of particular environmental, artistic and historical interest” as evidence of noble architecture of the 19th century. Recently, a careful and skilful renovation (with release of regular execution and restoration of seismic usability) has brought to light the original beauty of the prestigious property.
The entrance to the Palace, consisting of an imposing stone portal framed by architectural orders, leads into an internal courtyard which gives access to the residential rooms. The structural characteristics of the large basement cellars which are accessed from the garden are worth mentioning, with rooms divided by notable exposed brick arches and 5 m high cross vaults. The lush garden with tall trees faces the cellars and has common access from Via Filomusi or independent access from Via Roma.

Il Palazzo Toro sorge nel centro storico del paese con affaccio sul Corso Garibaldi ed assume l’attuale conformazione architettonica sul finire degli anni 70 dell’ Ottocento per volontà di Enrico Toro che lo fece iniziare nella metà del 1800 e che fu completato nel 1870 per la residenza della famiglia e per ospitare anche la Fabbrica della Centerba, il famoso liquore abruzzese.
L’edificio ha una eccellente impostazione architettonica di tipo tardo-rinascimentale ed è ingentilito da eleganti forme classiche.
L’immobile è stato dichiarato dalla Sovrintendenza alle Belle Arti “di particolare interesse ambientale, artistico e storico” quale testimonianza di architettura gentilizia del Secolo XIX. Recentemente una attenta ed abile ristrutturazione (con rilascio di regolare esecuzione e ripristino dell’agibilità sismica) ha riportato in luce l’originaria bellezza del prestigioso immobile.
L’ingresso del Palazzo, costituito da un imponente portale in pietra riquadrata da ordini architettonici, immette in un cortile interno da cui si accede ai locali residenziali. Meritano di essere menzionate le caratteristiche strutturali delle grandi Cantine seminterrate a cui si accede dal giardino, con ambienti suddivisi da notevoli archi in mattoni faccia a vista e volte a crociera alte 5 mt. Il rigoglioso giardino con alberi di alto fusto fronteggia le cantine ed ha accesso comune da Via Filomusi o accesso autonomo da Via Roma.
