Ancient Baronial Palace renovated in the Historic Center.
17th – 18th century Palace in the historic center with typical architecture of the eras, characterized by Renaissance and Gothic elements and frescoes that decorate the ceilings and some walls. The Palace is divided into various levels for a total of approximately 1,500 m2 and divided into two sectors, has at least 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, lounges, kitchens, warehouses, etc…, it is excellently preserved and regularly restored until the last works concluded in 2021 which also included the total renovation of the wooden roof. The Palace overlooks the main square of the town and also extends into the street behind it, consequently it has two entrances. The entrance on Piazza San Carlo is embellished with a notable stone portal which leads into a finely decorated entrance hall and a beautiful staircase, both of which are also common to another property. The independent entrance on Via Giuseppe Garibaldi has a portal that dates back to 1616 and leads into a truly interesting wing of the Palace dating back to the 17th century with many typical elements preserved. This sector of the Palace was connected to the previous one but following various renovations over time it was made independent: the connection can however be restored as needed. The Palace is largely immediately habitable and is sold partially furnished with valuable antique furniture, on request it can also be sold fully furnished (with a surcharge). The splendid halls with frescoed ceilings also by a pupil of the painter Pasquale Celommi, the stone fireplaces, the mosaic floors, the internal courtyards and then the numerous cellars and the many service rooms stand out. From the upper floors you can enjoy splendid views of the town and the surrounding area. The Palace can be reached directly by car with the possibility of parking nearby.
Heating remained mostly guaranteed by the many fireplaces but in the main (inhabited) sector two particularly effective pellet stoves and air conditioners were placed. The electrical system is sectoral with high energy supply and divided into four distinct sectors.

Note: The Palace has a literary connection with G. D’Annunzio’s novel “The Death of the Duke of Ofena”, written in 1897, which is part of the “Le Novelle della Pescara” collection. The Palace itself would have been a source of inspiration for the setting of the story of the Duke of Ofena and the various characters.
Ofena is a municipality of just over 500 inhabitants. at 531 m. above sea level in the Province of L’Aquila in Abruzzo, in a dominant position over the Tirino River Valley. Part of its territory falls within the Gran Sasso National Park, not far from Campo Imperatore and the ski resorts. The ancient town is a medieval fortified village with characteristic tall houses placed side by side for defensive purposes. There are several ancient palaces, ancient churches and convents of interest. In the area of the town there are some shops, restaurants and essential services (municipal office, post office, pharmacy,….). Bus connections with nearby centres; motorways and railway stations about 20′ away. The city of L’Aquila is half an hour’s drive away, Pescara with the airport and the beaches of the Adriatic Sea is 60′ away, Rome 90′.

Antico Palazzo Baronale ristrutturato nel Centro Storico.
Palazzo del XVII – XVIII Sec. nel Centro Storico con architettura tipica delle epoche, caratterizzato da elementi rinascimentali e gotici ed affreschi che decorano soffitti ed alcune pareti. Il Palazzo è articolato su vari livelli per un totale di circa 1.500 mq e diviso in due settori, dispone di almeno 8 camere da letto ed 8 bagni, saloni, cucine, magazzini, ecc… , è ottimamente conservato e regolarmente restaurato fino agli ultimi lavori conclusi nel 2021 che hanno previsto anche il totale rifacimento del tetto in legno. Il Palazzo affaccia sulla Piazza Principale del paese e si sviluppa anche nella via retrostante, di conseguenza ha due ingressi. L’ingresso sulla Piazza San Carlo è impreziosito da un notevole portale in pietra che immette in un androne finemente decorato e una bella scala, comuni questi anche ad altra proprietà. L’ingresso autonomo sulla Via Giuseppe Garibaldi ha invece un portale che risale al 1616 ed immette in un’ala del Palazzo risalente appunto al XVII secolo veramente interessante con molti elementi tipici conservati. Questo settore del Palazzo era collegato al precedente ma a seguito dei vari rifacimenti nel tempo è stato reso autonomo: il collegamento è comunque ripristinabile secondo necessità. Il Palazzo è in gran parte subito abitabile e viene venduto parzialmente arredato con mobili di pregevole antiquariato, a richiesta può anche essere venduto totalmente arredato (con applicazione di sovrapprezzo). Spiccano gli splendidi saloni con soffitti affrescati anche da un allievo del pittore Pasquale Celommi, i camini in pietra, i pavimenti anche a mosaico, i cortili interni e poi le numerose cantine e i molti locali di servizio. Dai piani alti si godono splendide vedute del paese e del territorio circostante. Il Palazzo è raggiungibile direttamente in auto con possibilità di parcheggio nei pressi.
Il riscaldamento è rimasto per lo più garantito dai molti camini ma nel settore principale (abitato) sono state collocate due stufe a pellet di particolare efficacia e dei climatizzatori. L’impianto elettrico è settoriale con alta dotazione di energia e suddiviso i quattro settori distinti.

Nota: Il Palazzo ha un collegamento letterario con la Novella di G. D’ Annunzio “La morte del Duca di Ofena”, scritta nel 1897, che fa parte della Raccolta “Le Novelle della Pescara”. Proprio il Palazzo sarebbe stato fonte di ispirazione per l’ambientazione della storia del Duca di Ofena e dei vari personaggi.
Ofena è un Comune di poco più di 500 ab. a 531 m. slm in Prov. dell’ Aquila in Abruzzo, in posizione dominante la Valle del Fiume Tirino. Parte del suo territorio rientra nel Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso, non distante da Campo Imperatore e dalle stazioni sciistiche. Il paese antico è un borgo fortificato medievale con le caratteristiche alte case affiancate a fini difensivi. Presenti diversi antichi Palazzi, antiche Chiese e Conventi di interesse. Nel territorio del paese si trovano alcuni negozi, ristoranti ed i servizi essenziali (Uffici Comunali, Ufficio Postale, Farmacia,….). Collegamenti autobus con i Centri vicini;, Autostrade e Stazioni Ferroviarie a circa 20’. La città dell’ Aquila è a mezza ora di auto, Pescara con l’aeroporto e le spiagge del mare Adriatico sono a 60’, Roma a 90’.
